Welcome to Pasco County Special Olympics!!

Special Olympics began in Pasco County in 1975 with 175 participants.  We currently have over 900 registered athletes in Pasco County!  We offer competition at the local, area, state and international levels.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition for persons eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities.

Volunteers are an important part of our program.  We utilize over 500 volunteers a year from local schools and the community.

In Pasco County, we offer over 16 sports to our athletes.  In the Fall season, we offer bowling, power lifting, gymnastics and softball.  In the Winter we offer basketball.  During the Summer season we offer track and field, soccer, volleyball, MATP, cycling, bocce, and tennis.  We also offer golf and swimming, equestrian and sailing during the summer season.

There is no cost to the athletes or their families to participate in our program.  We rely solely on donations and fundraisers to obtain the approximately $70,000 per year to run our program. This money is used to cover the participants’ registration fees, uniforms, transportation and ribbons. Donations also will be used to purchase equipment and supplies needed to operate our local Games.  All coordinators, coaches, volunteers and chaperones work from the heart!
